Inspection built around your drawing
Quality starts with a clear requirement. We agree the drawing revision, critical features, acceptance criteria and required records before manufacture, so your receiving team knows what will be checked and documented.
- Quality system

Quality checks through the order
- 1
Agree the checks
Drawing revision, critical features, sampling and report requirements.
- 2
Verify inputs
Material grade, condition and agreed traceability records.
- 3
Check during manufacture
Inspect important features before later operations limit access.
- 4
Release the finished part
Complete the agreed final checks, document pack and protective packing.
Choose the evidence your team needs
Specify these documents in the RFQ. Scope, availability, report format and cost are agreed before production.
| Record | What it addresses | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensional / CMM report | Measured drawing characteristics | Datums, GD&T, coverage and report format |
| First-article record | Approval before the wider batch | Ballooned drawing, acceptance features and hold point |
| Material certificate | Grade and material traceability | Certificate requirements and heat / lot identification |
| Process / test report | Treatment or specified testing | Standard, method, sampling and acceptance limits |
| Certificate of Conformance | Release against agreed order scope | Part, revision, batch and required declaration |
Plan the checks before production
For a controlled requirement, a Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) or inspection plan can connect material verification, manufacturing stages, applicable tests and final release. Share your customer QAP or purchase-order quality clauses with the RFQ.
- Identify critical dimensions, datums, fits and GD&T callouts.
- Agree inspection coverage, sampling and acceptance criteria.
- Define any first-article approval or hold point before the wider batch.
- Confirm report format, test responsibility, timing and cost.
CMM reporting and first-article records
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) reporting is available using the Electronica Saphire 564 for agreed drawing characteristics. The measurement plan follows the part geometry, datums, tolerances and acceptance requirements. Send your drawing and specify which features need recorded results so suitability, coverage, report format, timing and cost can be confirmed before production.
- CMM reporting: Electronica Saphire 564
- Measured values linked to drawing characteristics and tolerances
- First-article checks and approval points where required
- Report scope agreed for the specific component
Material and process evidence
Request material certificates, heat or lot identification and treatment records where traceability matters. Required documents should follow the component through any specialist process, with the part, batch and drawing revision identified. Testing method, standard, sampling, acceptance limits and specialist responsibility are agreed in the QAP or order.
- Incoming material grade, size, condition and certificate review
- Heat-treatment or surface-treatment records when specified
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or Dye-Penetrant Testing (DPT) where NDT is specified
- Tensile / mechanical-property records where the material requirement calls for them
- Coating thickness, adhesion, porosity or corrosion testing when required
- Final inspection summary or Certificate of Conformance (CoC) when agreed
From manufacture to dispatch
In-process checks can address features before later operations make them difficult to measure. Nonconforming features need review before further work or release. Final checks, identification and protective packing are planned with the acceptance requirements, including sensitive finished surfaces.
What a dimensional report can contain
A useful report ties results back to the controlled requirement. The list below is an illustrative reporting checklist, not a customer record or a promise that every field is included automatically.
- Part number, drawing revision, quantity and batch identification
- Characteristic or balloon number, nominal value and tolerance
- Measured result, measurement method and acceptance status
- Inspection date and responsible sign-off

Questions from buyers
Which CMM is used for reporting?
CMM reporting is available using the Electronica Saphire 564. Part geometry, access, datums, feature coverage and report requirements are reviewed against the drawing before the inspection scope is agreed.
Are CMM and material reports included with every order?
Report types, coverage and cost are agreed during quotation. List the required documents with the drawing so the measurement and traceability route can be planned.
Can we request a first article before a production batch?
Yes, a sample or first-article stage can be discussed. Define the acceptance features, report format and approval point before the wider quantity proceeds.
Does every part need NDT or additional material testing?
No. Testing follows the drawing, material specification and order requirements. Method, standard, sampling, responsibility and acceptance criteria are agreed when a test is needed.
